APPEARANCE/COLOR: The heartwood ranges from a light pinkish-red to a reddish-brown color. The sapwood can be light brown to pale yellowish tone. Dark streaks are common. Boards can vary greatly in grain and color.
CLEAR GRADING RULES: Natural heartwood color variations and a small amount of contrasting sapwood, along with allowable natural wood characters. Will admit the following: Limited small pin knots and sound gum pockets 1/8’’ in diameter. Thin dark streaks, dark discoloration, and small burls. 3/8’’ wide bright sapwood entire length of the piece or equivalent if not more than 1’’ wide for 1/3 the length of the piece. The back side will admit: Occasional scant thickness and or waney edge if piece has sufficient bearing of full thickness to support it to the floor.
Cherry Clear Prefinished Natural
CHARACTER GRADING RULES: Distinct natural variations in heartwood and sapwood coloration, varying natural wood characters and sound knots. Will admit the following: Unlimited, open knots and open characters not exceeding 1” in diameter that will fill readily. Unlimited pin knots, checks, pin worm holes, heavy dark streaks, heavy dark discoloration, gum pockets, and burls. Sapwood allowance up to 20% of piece, sapwood may be stained, blotchy or speckled. The back side will admit: Occasional scant thickness and or waney edge if piece has sufficient bearing of full thickness to support it to the floor.
