APPEARANCE/COLOR: Live Sawn White Oak flooring, also known as European or French cut, offers a distinctive appearance, showcasing cathedral plain sawn grain at the center and quarter/rift features at the edges, capturing the full character of the wood. The heartwood can vary from light, to medium brown, to pale yellowish-brown or dark pale-brown, commonly with an olive cast. White to light brown sapwood isn’t always demarcated from the heartwood. White oak can have a broad range in color variation.
GRADING RULES: Natural grade, allowing for large knots, prominent color variations, along with varying wood characteristics. Will admit the following: Unlimited large open knots, open characters not exceeding 1” in diameter and splits ¼’’ wide, that can be filled or defected out on job site. Unlimited worm holes, checks, heavy streaks, mineral streaks, and sapwood. Sapwood may be stained, blotchy or speckled. The back side will admit: Occasional scant thickness and or waney edge if piece has sufficient bearing of full thickness to support it to the floor.
